Banksy Just Opened a Pop-Up Homewares Store Called Gross Domestic Product
Legendary street artist and provocateur extraordinaire, Banksy, is back with his latest offering, a pop-up homewares store in Croydon called Gross Domestic Product (where art irritates life).
GDP is the homewares brand from Banksy and the pop-up will be the first and only store. The Cryodon showroom is for display purposes only and the doors will remain locked with all sales to be conducted online whenever the store opens.
As per Banksy:
“This shop has come about as a result of legal action. A greeting cards company are trying to seize legal custody of the name Banksy from the artist, who has been advised the best way to prevent this is to sell his own range of branded merchandise.”
According to Colossal, the Welcome Mats were stitched by refugees in Greek detainment camps, and all proceed will go back to them. Also, all proceeds from the doll sets will go to support the purchase of a replacement boat for activist Pia Klemp, whose boat was confiscated by the Italian government.
Prices start at £10 and go up from there. Inventory is limited and you probably won’t have a realistic chance at acquiring anything.
What a great idea and sentiment.
