St John’s Smith Square (SJSS) is a much-loved classical music venue, set in a 18th-century baroque church in the
heart of Westminster.
SJSS wanted to retain their existing logo, yet modify it to be more flexible and practical. They required a much stronger sense of identity to compete in this competitive marketplace; they needed to appeal to a much wider, younger, less traditional audience.
At the heart of our new branding was the idea of ‘discovery’, which was inspired by 18th-century grand tours and the discovery of cultural treasures. The new brand features motifs in the visual language, taken from St John’s architecture to form elegant patterns and reveal imagery of both the performers and venue.
Lost & Found Creative collaborated with Phillip Southgate Design, Emily Penny at BeColourful and Euphita to create a modern brand language, applying to printed communications, wayfinding and digital communications.
